English Country dancing is the precurser to modern contra dancing and Scottish Country dancing. All three forms share a common set of formations (longways, square, and round sets) and figures (circle, rights and lefts, figure eight). The movement style is the dance walk – walking lightly in time to the music. The caller teaches the steps before each dance. Live music is usually piano plus violin, recorder or accordion.
New dancers are welcome and there is no need for a partner or fancy dress. The current Covid policy is that vaccinations are required (honor system) and masks are optional. Check the web site www.ecdcville.org for the latest policy.
