The Shelter for Help in Emergency is planning our annual Domestic Violence Awareness Month Vigil, to be held at the Ting Pavilion in Charlottesville on October 7th at 7pm. This event kicks off our DVAM activities for the month of October and we would love to see you there!
The vigil is an opportunity to mourn those we have lost in the community to intimate partner violence and honor those who have survived. The vigil involves poems/readings; songs by a local women’s choir; and closes with Shelter staff reading out the names of local victims of domestic-violence-related homicides.
The vigil is free and open to the general community. ASL live interpretation will be provided. If you have any other accessibility/logistical questions, please feel free to email me at [email protected].
If you would like to discuss other opportunities to connect with us for Domestic Violence Awareness Month, you can contact our Community Outreach Coordinator Clare at [email protected].
