At 2 p.m. Saturday, September 16, the Piedmont Master Gardeners and Virginia Cooperative Extension will present “Fall Lawn Care and Great Lawn Alternatives,” a free Garden Basics class at Trinity Episcopal Church, 1118 Preston Avenue in Charlottesville. The program will offer a sustainable approach to lawn care that includes managing weeds and pests without harming pollinators, birds, and other wildlife. It will also suggest ways to reduce your lawn with groundcovers and low-maintenance native plant beds. Space is limited. To reserve a place in the class, register at https://piedmontmastergardeners.org/events/. Registration closes at 5 p.m. September 15 or when the class is full. Garden Basics is a partnership with the Bread and Roses ministry at Trinity Church.
