Tenley Kramer, a 13 year old Crozet resident and eighth grader at Henley Middle School, completed the Shenandoah Mountain 100K race over Labor Day weekend with her dad and coach Jeff Kramer.

The Shenandoah Mountain 100 is one of the best-known long-distance endurance mountain bike races in the US and is part of the National Ultra Endurance Race Series, organized by Shenandoah Mountain Touring. The annual event takes place in the George Washington National Forest, starting and ending at the Stokesville Campground, and features 100 kilometers of distance with 8,500 feet of climbing.   Tenley completed the race in 8 hours and 45 minutes. What a day!

Tenley and her sister, Quinn, who is a sixth grader at Henley, are competitive mountain bikers with the local Charlottesville Racing Club Jr. MTB Team.

In the spring 2024 season, each sister won the VAHS Virginia race series for the middle and elementary school categories. They are off to a great start in the fall NICA series with a first (Tenley) and second (Quinn) place finish for the Middle School A division race that took place in the first race of the season at the Miller School September 14.

The number of female youth mountain bikers is growing quikly each year, and the Kramers are excited to be a part of this sport in Crozet!
