Boars Head Swim Club claimed the Jefferson Swim League (JSL) Championships July 27, at Brooks YMCA in Charlottesville. edging out the Crozet Gators by 30.5 points.
The Crozet Gators had a strong season following back-to-back championships in 2022 and 2023. The team came within just a couple of races of taking the district championship again on July 17 when they scored 521 points to the Boars Head Swim Club’s 541 points.
This season, the Gators registered 263 competitive swimmers and 30 pre-swim team “Hatchlings.” They were led by head coach Tasha Congdon and assistant coaches Megan Life, Henry Addison, Adam Reinhard, John Noffisinger, Lucy Nicholson and Anthony Garono. The swimmers won in contests this year against Fry’s Spring, Fairview, Glenmore and Hollymead. The team was proud to send good luck and well wishes to 2024 Olympian and former Crozet Gator Thomas Heilman.
Outstanding performances this year on the girls side of the team include: (8 & under) Kate McGowan, Henley Miller, and Posie Smith, (9-10) June Diggans, ML Jamme, and Della Smith; (13-14) Amelie Meyer, Sofie Wang, Sedona King, Willow Phillips, Dilyn Carter, Meghan Ayres, and Cate Pearson; and (15-18) Molly Streit, Allison Ma, Lily Phillps, and graduating seniors Sarah Jordan and Reagan Gresge. Strong performances on the boys’ side included: (8 & under) Grady Santiuste, Connor Finnan and Kannon Koser; (9-10) Altan Edgar, Alex Ai, Jack Rockwell, Ben Bowman, and Max Dailey; (13-14) Henry Bowman, Owen Frank, and Tommy Rockwell; (15-18) John Zevgolis, Jackson Hankins and graduating senior Jonathan Alexander.
