More than 80 local businesses helped the Crozet Lions Club welcome spring with its yearly fair at Crozet Baptist Church. The donated items alone had a retail value of more than $5,500.

Thanks to community support, club president Paul Dowell said the popular event has grown to be the single largest fundraising event for the Lions. Children enjoy the live animals and face-painting, adults bid on the auction items, and everyone enjoys the music, this year provided by the Blue Country band. Admission is always free.

Dowell said the Chestnut Ridge Funny Farm, this year’s sponsor, brought some of its miniature cattle to the fair. The small cattle were joined by Bella, a tracking dog who works with the Albemarle County Police Department. Bella proved to be a huge hit with both children and their parents, Dowell said.
