Joan Abbot Hayward Jones was born in Boston, Mass., on December 22, 1926, the daughter of Eleanor and Howard Hayward.
She attended Beaver Country Day School and went to Mary C. Wheeler College in Providence, R.I. Her marriage to Glenwood Sherrard ended in 1962, and she married Winston T. Jones of Crozet.
She is survived by her daughter, Sara A Sherrard of Nelson County. Her son, Timothy Hayward Jones preceded her in death.
Her life was one of horses, dogs and country living on Batna Farm in Crozet. Upon Winston’s death, she moved to many various places around Albemarle and Charlottesville and ended up in Stuarts Draft, Va. She enjoyed her walks around the area, watching it grow and meeting neighbors, as well as listening to Jazz and Classical music.
After a short Illness she passed on August 8, 2021. The family asks that donations to the American Red Cross or to the Society of Friends be made instead of flowers. The family also want to thank the Staff a the Blake for their help and support as well as Hospice of the Piedmont.
