Ara & Gayane Avagayan bring Double H Farm order pickups at RVCC.

During this time of social distancing, farmers are going the extra mile to ensure our community still has access to fresh food. The Nelson Farmers Market has invited vendors to setup online ordering platforms for customers to place pre-orders. Those listed at nelsonfarmersmarket.com offer Saturday deliveries at the Nelson Farmers Market grounds in Nellysford.

In compliance with the Governor’s orders, a temporary market style has been designed. During the morning hours 9 to 11 a.m. beginning Saturday, May 2, only pre-ordered pick-ups will be available.  Buyers must stay in vehicles with no foot traffic allowed. Grounds are marked for entrance on paved road, one-way only.  Vendors are planning to be set up at roadside and will bring orders to rear of vehicles. Vendors will wear mask and gloves or have hand sanitizer for use between customers.

Vendors available for online ordering to help keep us all healthy and safe include;

Little Hat Creek, River Oak Farm, Gathered Threads, Afton Mountain Elderberry, Ginter Family Farms, Singing Earth Produce, Rill Cross Farm, Jardin Savage Farm, Verdant Acres, Hungry Hill (Raw Honey) Farm, Blue Ridge Bucha

Rockfish Valley Community Center will continue the popular Thursday local food pick-up in the auditorium for orders placed online.  Delivery may also be requested. Ordering details are provided by individual vendors at the website link  www.rockfishcc.org/local-food-pickup

Vendors now include: Bryants Cider, Cardinal Point Winery, Caromont Farm, Double H Farm, Gathered Threads, Goodwin Creek Bakery, Hindes Harmony Farm, Light-feather Bakes, Little Hat Creek, Lucky Moon, River Oak Farm, Shenandoah Produce, Verdant Acres, Virginia Vinegar Works, Old Orchard Farm

Inside the auditorium, donations of hand sanitizer and handmade masks have been offered.  Silverback Distillery has given away thousands of bottles of alcohol-based sanitizer to organizations and first responders in the community. Free, handmade masks are also available for those in the community who need one.
