Culinary Competition Thanks You

The Crozet Culinary Competition for Charity (CCCC) committee thanks the community for their support and participation in our first annual event last week at the Lodge at Old Trail.  Because of your generous support we raised $5000 to split evenly between the Build Crozet Library campaign and the Claudius Crozet Park.

We congratulate and thank the four local chefs who each prepared an amazingly delicious entrée and dessert in an hour. We thank the four judges who had to pick a winner from among these four. It was a very close call and we thank you. We greatly appreciate Pat and Eddie Keomahathai of Bangkok ’99, Josh Naber of da Luca Cafe and Wine Bar, Mark Cosgrove of Fardowners Restaurant, and Jason Fitzgerald of Southern Way Cafe, who donated their time and talent to this event.  We also thank Michael Henrich, chef at the Lodge at Old Trail, for organizing the culinary competition and preparing many of the tasty appetizers enjoyed by everyone.

Congratulations to Pat and Eddie Keomahathai, the winners of the first annual competition! Stop by Bangkok ’99 to admire the trophy and enjoy a meal.

A big part of the event were the wonderful wines and beers donated by local vineyards and breweries: King Family, Stinson, Pollak, White Hall, Glass House, Mountfair, and Well Hung Vineyards and Blue Mountain and Starr Hill breweries. Without their generous donation of wine and beer, it would have not been the financial and community- building success that it was.

One of the many highlights of the evening was the silent auction of artwork donated by several local artists.  We greatly appreciate the generous support of Meg West, Nancy Ross, Camilyn Leone, Helen Hilliard, John Hurlburt, Carolyn Ratcliffe, Isabelle Abbot and Fred Williamson. Thank you.

We also appreciate all the hard work and wonderful assistance of the staff at The Lodge at Old Trail who helped make the event such a pleasant success. We especially thank David Hilliard, owner, for his generous support and Judy Bowes, executive director, for her time, organizing prowess, and boundless energy.

We also thank the local community members who volunteered to work at the event: Linda Girvin, Meg West, Clover Carroll, David Wayland, Jackie and Tom Loach, Patricia Crawford, Nancy Fleischman, Karl Pomeroy, Becca White, Phil Best, Diane Pace, John Savage, Robert Maupin, Bill Schrader, Kim Martin, Lisa Goehler, Ron Gaykema, and Judi Burbes—who scrubbed pots most of the evening!  Thank you! We couldn’t have done it without you.

Most of all, we thank you, our generous fellow Crozetians, for your attendance and support.  We are looking forward to next year’s event with you!
